. chp officers say when they searched basham's home, they found dangerous materials used to make explosives. >>> we have new details this morning surrounding a deadly shooting and a car crash in las vegas that completely shuts down the busiest part of that famous strip. we're now learning the intersection featuring caesar's palace and the bellagio will be shut down for most of the day. there was a shootout between two vehicles. police say a maserati and a black suv were stopped at a red light when somebody started firing a gun. the two cars then sped through the red light. the maserati slammed into a taxi. the taxi burst into flames instantly killing a passenger and that driver. and that started a chain reaction. ended with five cars involved. police say the black suv involved in that shooting managed just to speed away. >>> olympian oscar pistorius will return to court tomorrow for day four of his bail hearing, this as a lead investigator in this case is dropped because he is facing attempted murder charges of his own. police say detective hilton botha is scheduled to appear in

groups are lending their support to this idea. arturo santiago joins us live. you just heard city council members and environmentalist groups speaking out on banning styrofoam takeout on restaurants. what are they saying? >> caller: this proposed ordinance that would ban styrofoam food packages took nearly two years. they feel they can finally get it done. environmental groups along with a san jose councilman gathered at the park to pry open a manhole cover in order to access a storm water capture device. this cylinder was installed last summer and has not been yet cleaned out. it filters out garbage from 68 acres of storm water runoff. the idea is to show the advanced amount of polystyrene that can pollute our storm water system. save our shore, california clean water action and save the bay are all speaking out in favor of thf proposed ordinance. they all agree that tough poll sis and regulations are needed to reduce the amount of styrofoam trash that's in the bay area creeks and san francisco bay. >> that plastic and styrofoam are a huge component of trash that ends up in the bay. a lo

that are already open on saturdays will stay open on saturdays. now this morning at a news conference the u.s. postmaster general says the elimination of saturday mail is necessary to save about $2 billion a year. money that is badly needed. just last year the postal service lost almost $16 billion. that was a record amount. it was so bad it defaulted on billions of dollars of payments to its pension fund. the post office blames some of its recent troubles on the internet as more and more customers stop buying stamps and instead pay their bills online, which is free and much more convenient. >> letter care yertss tell me, mr. donahue, get the five-day, preserve package delivery on saturday. customers want that. we don't have enough mail to sustain that. they know that. >> everything in my post box is flyers and bills. >> on saturdays? >> on every day. >> so you are not going to miss either of those? >> rightp. >> i'm disappointed in the way the government's going right now. they're closing all these jobs down for people. and basically it's a tragic thing. a lot of jobs lost by that, don't you
